Psychology fees and Medicare rebates
The Medicare rebate for a 50-minute individual psychology session is $101.55 with a registered psychologist (MBS item 80110) and $149.05 with a clinical psychologist (MBS item 80010), for up to ten sessions each calendar year with a Mental Health Care Plan. Session fees are confirmed in writing when you book.
Medicare rebates
The Medicare rebate for an individual session of at least 50 minutes is $101.55 with a registered psychologist (MBS item 80110) and $149.05 with a clinical psychologist (MBS item 80010). Video telehealth sessions attract the same rebate as sessions in our rooms.
Eligible clients can claim up to ten individual sessions per calendar year, from 1 January to 31 December. An initial Mental Health Care Plan covers up to six sessions, and your GP reviews it before referring any further sessions.
To obtain a Mental Health Care Plan, your GP needs to diagnose a condition that qualifies for referral under the Better Access initiative. Anxiety-related conditions and depression both qualify.
Rebate amounts are set by the Australian Government and indexed each 1 July. Figures correct as at 1 July 2026 — current amounts are published at mbsonline.gov.au.

Standard consultation with a registered psychologist or clinical psychologist. Medicare rebates apply with a valid Mental Health Care Plan.
Couples & family session
50–60 minutes · in person or telehealth
Systemic therapy with our family psychotherapist. Medicare rebates do not apply to relationship sessions; private health extras may.
Supervision & corporate
By arrangement
Clinical supervision for psychologists and provisional psychologists, plus workshops and wellbeing programs quoted per engagement.

Do I need a referral to see a psychologist?
No. You can book directly with us without a referral. A GP referral and Mental Health Care Plan are required only if you want to claim a Medicare rebate for your sessions.
How much is the Medicare rebate for a psychology session?

Do Medicare rebates apply to couples or family therapy?
No. Medicare rebates do not apply to relationship sessions. Private health insurance extras cover may apply instead, and no referral is required to claim from private health insurance.
Can I claim Medicare and private health insurance for the same session?
No. You can use one or the other for a given session, not both. Where a Mental Health Care Plan is in place, the Medicare rebate is normally the larger of the two.
How long is a session, and how soon can I be seen?
Individual sessions run 50 minutes; couples and family sessions run 50 to 60 minutes. Booking requests are answered within 24 hours to confirm a time, Monday to Friday between 9:00am and 5:00pm.
Is telehealth as effective as attending in person?
Telehealth sessions are delivered by the same clinicians to the same standard, over an encrypted video platform, and Medicare rebates apply identically to video and in-person appointments.
